​​Land Research and Monitoring Unit (LRMU)

   ​​​​Following recommendations of the Truth and Justice Commission, a Land Research Unit was set up under the aegis of Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning to investigate into cases of alleged land dispossession of claimants who deponed before the Commission. ​​

   Description of the service

   1. 1. To carry out in-depth investigation concerning an alleged complaint or hold an enquiry into land issues;
   2. 2. To advise the applicants, after thorough investigation and enquiry, on his claim and any other related issues;
   3. 3. To assist the applicant to retrieve all necessary documents, including title deeds, plans and civil status documents and in collaboration with other appropriate institutions, to draw up genealogical trees;
   4. 4. To initiate legal action before the relevant competent court for cases where there are substantial grounds for a case of land dispossession; and
   5. 5. To provide financial assistance to claimants to lodge their case in court.
